Suicide Prevention & Intervention

Salem-Keizer Public Schools approach to suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention centers on compassionate conversations with students, recognizing each as the expert of their own experience.

Suicide Prevention, Intervention & Postvention

Oregon’s Senate Bill 52 (Adi's Act) requires schools to have clear plans for suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.

At Salem-Keizer Public Schools, this is carried out through the Suicide Prevention Plan (SPP)—a one-on-one conversation between students and a school-based mental health professional. The SPP is built on care, collaboration, and safety planning, connecting families to resources and giving students the validation, support, and hope they need in difficult times.
