Salem-Keizer Public Schools HASS Plan

Annual Notifications

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance of this requirement by making all test results and detailed information explaining the test results available to the public within 10 business days of receiving the results. Results are made available by posting the information on the District website, sending notice of the results over the email system/phone dialer, written communication and making the results available in printed form at the main administration office located at 2450 Lancaster Drive NE, Salem, Oregon 97305.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance with OAR 581-022-2223. Paul Odenthal, Chief Operations Officer, is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the plan. His office is located at 2450 Lancaster Drive NE, Salem, Oregon 97305. Printed copies of the plan can be obtained upon request.

Water Test Results

All school districts, education service districts, and public charter schools are required to test for and eliminate exposure to elevated levels of lead in water used for drinking and food preparation through either remediation or eliminating access, according to OAR 333-061-0400 and OAR 581-022-2223.

Salem Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) has adopted a plan for testing all schools, childcare facilities and administrative buildings (owned or leased) for lead. The action level for lead in drinking water is the concentration of lead in water that triggers corrective action by the school district. The action level for lead is 15 parts per billion (ppb). SKPS will test all owned and leased buildings for lead on a six-year cycle.

Radon

Radon Test Results

Salem-Keizer Public Schools has adopted a radon plan as required by ORS 332.341-345 and all facilities are tested for radon using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocols. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. You can’t see or smell radon. Testing is the only way to know your level of exposure.
