Salem-Keizer Public Schools has adopted a radon plan as required by ORS 332.341-345 and all facilities are tested for radon using Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) protocols. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. You can’t see or smell radon. Salem-Keizer Public Schools has adopted a plan for testing all schools, childcare facilities and administrative buildings (owned or leased) for both lead and copper. The action level is set under OAR 333-061-0440 of 15ppb. The EPA action level for copper is 1.3ppm. SKPS will test its owned and leased buildings on a six year cycle.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance with the EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting Program Rule by by ensuring that both contractors and District staff are certified and trained to perform the necessary work.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance of ORS 634.700 through 634.750 through its integrated pest management plan. The plan PDF is available here.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance of this requirement by making all test results and detailed information explaining the test results available to the public within 10 business days of receiving the results. Results are made available by posting the information on the District website, sending notice of the results over the email system/phone dialer, written communication and making the results available in printed form at the main administration office located at 2450 Lancaster Drive NE, Salem, Oregon 97305.

Salem-Keizer Public Schools is in full compliance with OAR 581-022-2223. Robert Silva, Assistant Superintendent, is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the plan.
