Public Comment Guidelines

Do you have something to share with the school board? Follow these simple guidelines.

  1. Sign up to speak at a board meeting. The sign up sheet is available at every board business meeting. Just add your name to the list, and you will be called on to speak.
  2. State your name, address, and the topic for the record. When you come to the podium to speak, please say who you are and where you live. It’s just for the record.
  3. Limit comments to just 3 minutes.
  4. Have materials to distribute? Please give any handouts to the board secretary, who will distribute them to the board members.
  5. Provide 10 copies of your written testimony to the board secretary.
  6. Do not use names of individual students or staff.

Each board member is elected by local voters to serve a four-year term without pay. Even though each member represents a zone in our district, the entire board works together to serve all students in Salem and Keizer.
