School board business meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Unless otherwise noted, the meetings begin at 6 p.m. and are held at Support Services Center, 2575 Commercial Street SE, Salem, OR.
The board also holds a work session on the fourth Tuesday of each month at which they discuss and examine a particular educational topic.
The school board welcomes public comment. The guidelines below are in place to help meet the board’s goal of hearing from as many people as possible on a variety of topics within the timeframe of the meeting. The board chair may ask that a representative speak on behalf of a group, limit total time for public comment, and call speakers out of order. This is time for the board to listen, not respond to comment.
Thank you for helping ensure an informative and productive time for everyone
School board meetings (both business and work sessions) are televised on CCTV, cable channel 21, in Salem. You can watch the meeting on TV live on CCTV Channel 21, or live on your computer, and you can also watch tapes of past meetings on CCTV’s Youtube channel.
Each board member is elected by local voters to serve a four-year term without pay. Even though each member represents a zone in our district, the entire board works together to serve all students in Salem and Keizer.
