This summer there was a record number of schools who participated in JumpStart Kinder. Students attended the week-long “camp” at 33 different elementary schools around the district. The team assured that all students could participate in Jump Start Kinder, even if their resident school was not offering it this summer. The staff worked with a neighboring school to get them registered so that all students had the experience.

This program gave students the opportunity to meet teachers and other school staff, learn and practice school routines and procedures, and even learn the routines for school lunch. Teachers were able to identify students’ strengths and see areas that they will need additional support as they are learning and growing.

This program would not have been possible without the collaboration of other departments including: curriculum, purchasing, student services, transportation, and nursing to assure that students were set up for success.

Thank you to everyone that has supported JumpStart Kinder. SKPS looks forward to seeing this program continue to expand and provide for our students!
