November 2022 meeting

The Student Investment Account Advisory Committee met for another meeting to provide oversight and input on the SIA plan.

The meeting was kicked off by recognizing Native American Heritage Month and viewing the updated SKPS land acknowledgement. The group also recognized November 20 as Transgender Day of Remembrance to honor the lives of transgender and gender non-conforming people that have been taken by violence rooted in bias and intolerance. Language Acquisition Coordinator Robin Farup-Romero then shared information with the committee about current and future plans for the Dual Language Program in Salem-Keizer schools.

The committee also held small-group discussions to give input on challenges, successes and innovative ways of using SIA funding to support learning.

Community engagement sessions

The district SIA team has engaged various community groups this year in discussions about the District Integrated Needs Assessment, seeking input from the community about the hopes and dreams for students and current goals that address student performance data. Trends within the input will be presented broadly back to the community. Engagement sessions will continue year to year to maintain ongoing discussions and inform revisions to the SIA plan.
