Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) has contracted with DAY CPM, a Portland-based construction project management firm.
DAY CPM will work with SKPS staff to facilitate implementation of construction projects funded by the $619.7 million bond approved by voters in May. The company has expertise in managing large construction projects to help keep them within budget and on schedule. DAY CPM has served in the same role for several neighboring school districts implementing bond-funded capital construction programs.
All schools in Salem-Keizer will receive some kind of improvement in the 2018 bond program. Twenty-nine schools are scheduled to receive major capital improvements, such as additional classrooms, science labs, expanded cafeterias or libraries, gymnasiums and more. Improvements in seismic safety and security are also planned.
The first school scheduled for construction in the 2018 bond program is Gubser Elementary School in Keizer. Construction is planned to start in December 2018 and is expected to be complete by fall 2019.
