Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS) and the Association of Salem-Keizer Education Support Professionals (ASK-ESP) has announced transportation recruitment incentives to attract and retain transportation employees.
The transportation recruitment incentive is for new bus drivers who have not been previously employed as a bus driver in SKPS within the year of their new hire date.
New bus drivers will receive the following monetary incentives based on time worked over the employee’s first year of continuous employment:
“We are thankful to the Association of Salem-Keizer Education Support Professionals for their support of this new incentive structure for our transportation department,” said SKPS Chief Operations Officer Michael Wolfe. “Our bus drivers really make a positive impact each and every day for our students. Like school districts across the country, we struggle to fill these mission-critical positions. We hope this incentive will bring even more incredible members of our community to work with us as drivers.”
The Memorandum of Understanding between SKPS and ASK-ESP also addresses modified longevity stipends for bus drivers, driver trainers, dispatchers and routers, clerical staff and mechanics employed by the transportation department, as well as an employee referral incentive.
