At its meeting on Nov. 30, the Salem-Keizer School Board approved the Ideal Profile for the next Superintendent of Salem-Keizer Public Schools. This profile includes the specific criteria that the consultants from Human Capital Enterprises will use in identifying outstanding prospects for the position of Salem-Keizer Superintendent of Schools. It is also a document the school board will use in the selection phase of the search.

The characteristics within the ideal profile emanate from feedback from local focus groups, interviews, and from the results of the Superintendent Search Survey. In all, more than 1,500 members of the Salem-Keizer community participated in providing feedback.

The recruitment window for the position opened on Monday, Dec. 5 and will continue through January 2, 2023. Interested candidates can accesses additional information, and apply directly through the Human Capital Enterprises website.

Superintendent Search Process

The process to select the next superintendent for Salem-Keizer Public Schools comes after the district’s current superintendent, Christy Perry announced her plans to retire at the end of the 2022-23 school year.

The current timeline approved by the school board demonstrates intent to have the next leader selected and announced to the community in February 2023. The new superintendent would assume responsibilities on July 1, 2023.
