Salem-Keizer Public Schools was named as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for its outstanding commitment to music education by The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.

Music helps keep students engaged in school

Now in its 24th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students.

Only one other school district in Oregon, David Douglas, also received recognition by NAMM this year.

“We are excited to once again be recognized by NAMM as one of the country’s top communities for music education. It is not only owing to the accolades our programs receive in competition but in the value and support this community and SKPS places in holding music as a high priority in the student experience,” said SKPS Coordinator of Music and Drama of Stephen Lytle.

“And a special thanks to all of our outstanding faculty who bring these experiences to our students every day in their classrooms.”
