With nearly 18 years of experience in communications and journalism, and 15 years serving Salem-Keizer schools, Aaron Harada has been selected as the new Director of Community Relations and Communications for Salem-Keizer Public Schools. Harada will take on leadership of the department following the recent retirement of outgoing director, Sylvia McDaniel.
“Aaron brings a strong track record for skilled and thoughtful leadership to this role. He has a clear vision for our district’s communications strategy centered on transparency and service,” said Superintendent Perry. “Aaron is not only an experienced communications professional, but also a caring Salem-Keizer parent and community member.”
Most recently, Harada served as the district’s Communications Manager, supporting the outgoing director in overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of the department’s team of professionals responsible for district communications, crisis communications, web products, video production, publications, marketing, media relations and more.
“I am honored with this opportunity to continue serving our students and families, staff and community,” said Harada. “I look forward to building additional partnerships and relationships within the community and believe we all have unique strengths that we can bring together to help our students thrive.”
