Orth has nearly 30 years in education as a teacher, principal and administrator
Jim Orth, Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) for Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS), has been named interim assistant superintendent for the district. He will be taking over a number of the responsibilities previously held by Kelly Carlisle, who retired from the district over the summer. Orth has worked in education for nearly 30 years, serving as a classroom teacher, principal and since 2014, the director of CTE for SKPS. Orth will fulfill this interim assistant superintendent role until a permanent assistant superintendent is named, at which time he’ll resume his role with CTE.
“Jim is a terrific leader and outstanding resource for the district,” said Superintendent Christy Perry. “He understands what it takes to create successful and engaging opportunities for our young people, and I know he’ll help us continue on our mission of ensuring all children graduate prepared for successful careers and lives without missing a beat.”
Orth will work alongside district leadership to oversee all aspects of teaching and learning with specific attention to supporting schools.
