How does SKPS communicate about emergency closures and delays?

As we begin to see cooler temperatures throughout our community, it’s important to know how SKPS will communicate in the event of a school closure or delay. In case of inclement weather, SKPS officials will work to communicate with families as soon as possible regarding impacts to school operations. Typically,  communication to families begins at 6 am.

ParentSquare

If schools are closed or start times delayed, all families and staff will get a message sent to the phone number on record with the district along with an email or ParentSquare notification.

Please take a moment to ensure your contact information is up to date using ParentVUE or by contacting your child’s school.

SKPS social media

In addition, a message will always be posted on the district’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram story as soon as a decision to cancel school, delay school or close the district is made.
