Starting the first week of September, SKPS school buses will be hitting the road as students return to school for the 2022-23 school year! Will your child need transportation to or from school this year? There are a few quick and easy steps for you to take to ensure your child is ready to go on day one.
1. Check eligibility for bus transportation
Transportation-eligible means that the student lives at a residence within their neighborhood school attendance boundary, and the residence is outside the State of Oregon defined walk zone for that school. The walk zones are 1.0 mile for elementary students and 1.5 miles for middle and high school students.
You can check eligibility for bus transportation on the Busfinder webpage.
If you are eligible, you will see the link appear for “PARENTVUE” to complete the bus rider registration process. If you do not qualify for bus transportation based on your child’s school and residence address, you will not see this link appear.
*Please note: when you follow the link to complete the registration process, you will be taken to the online registration process. The selection for bus transportation toward the end of the online registration process. (See step 2).
2. Complete bus rider registration
Prior to riding the bus, your child will need to be registered for bus transportation. Registration can be completed by checking the box “Bus Rider Registration” during the online registration or enrollment verification process through ParentVUE. This option will appear on the “Students” step is near the end of the registration process. (See below).

If you need assistance with completing online registration, if you missed this step during online registration, or need to confirm if your registration is complete, please contact your child’s school who can assist you in verifying your bus rider registration.
*Please note that although the option to select bus rider registration will be available to all families through the registration process, only families who are eligible for bus transportation (step 1) will be provided transportation.
