Please share photos, stories and short remembrances of your time spent at the original Leslie Junior High School building on Howard Street with us!

We’re making a documentary video and you’re invited to help!
Bond-funded improvements and expansions at South Salem High School include replacing the original Leslie Junior High School building with modern classrooms and performing arts spaces that will be built to a higher seismic standard.
The old Leslie Junior High School building first opened to serve students in 1927. In 1997, the current Leslie Middle School opened at its location on Pringle Road and the old Leslie building served as the home of Howard Street Charter School until 2019.
Over the decades, thousands from our community have passed through the halls of the old Leslie Junior High School building, including many who would later become leaders on both state and national levels.
Salem-Keizer Public Schools is producing a documentary video to memorialize the old Leslie Junior High School building, and invites the community to submit photos, stories and short remembrances of their time spent in the building or at Leslie Swimming Pool. These contributions will be considered for inclusion in the documentary video.
