Meet our student-athletes

This fall, student-athletes across Salem-Keizer Public Schools had a great season on the field and the court. Their success shows their hard work, teamwork, and refusal to give up. It also reflects the strong support they get from coaches, families, and schools. Below are highlights from several outstanding fall sports programs.

McKay High School soccer

The McKay High School girls and boys soccer teams both had strong seasons. The girls' team had a great year on offense. One player earned Player of the Year for the Mid-Willamette Conference. The team finished fourth in the league and showed that McKay athletics has a bright future.

The boys' team also played well. They kept their grades up and fought hard for key wins. They finished third in the league and made it to the second round of the playoffs.

South Salem High School volleyball

South Salem Volleyball had their best finish ever. They took third place at the OSAA State Championships. They also won a championship title at a tournament in Bend.

Two senior leaders set new records. One is in the top ten in Oregon for career kills. The other set a new state record for career assists. Their leadership helped build a strong legacy for the volleyball program.

North Salem High School girls cross country

The North Salem Girls Cross Country team had a fantastic season. Neli Dalgas won her third conference title in a row. She led the team to a second-place finish.

At the state meet, Neli placed second, and the team finished 13th. Neli also qualified for Nike Nationals. She was the only girl from Oregon to reach the national meet, which shows the strength of North Salem’s program.

Sprague High School volleyball

Sprague High School Volleyball had an amazing year. They finished with a 27–4 record and earned a number one ranking in Oregon. They also won a top award at a major tournament in Arizona. The team ended their season with the second-place trophy at the OSAA State Championships.

West Salem High School cross country

The West Salem Titans Cross Country program stayed on top this fall. Both the boys' and girls' teams won their fourth conference championship in a row. Both teams also qualified for the state championships.

There were many great individual performances. Anders Hagen was named Conference Boys Cross Country Athlete of the Year. Coach Dalton Lindsey won Coach of the Year honors for both teams.

McNary High School boys soccer

The McNary High School Boys Soccer team went undefeated in their conference again. This is their fourth title in a row. Over the last four years, they have won 27 games and only lost one in conference play.

For each of those seasons, McNary has produced the Conference Player of the Year. Many players have gone on to play college soccer, which shows the consistency of the program.

Congratulations to all our fall sports teams, and thank you to our community for supporting our students.
