Meet our Salem-Keizer PE Teachers

There is a unique kind of magic that happens on elementary school blacktops: the moment a wobbling front tire steadies, a student finds their balance and a look of pure triumph takes over.

Through Safe Routes to School, we provide the bikes and the safety curriculum, but it is the Salem-Keizer PE teachers who turn these resources into life-changing moments. This partnership combines our program’s tools with the incredible energy and dedication of our educators.

Confidence in Motion

Teaching a child to ride a bike unlocks more than just a new skill. We see students arrive at school excited to face their fears. In those moments, they discover: independence, persistence and joy.

This year, we are proud to expand this "magic" to six new Title I schools, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to feel empowered and supported on two wheels.

None of this would be possible without our PE teachers. Even when biking isn't their primary background, they jump in with both feet. They set up the systems, shape the lessons, and most importantly, celebrate every small victory alongside their students.
