NEP Fall Literacy On-Demand for PreK-5th Grade Students
Featured Book: Keepunumuk Weeachumun’s Thanksgiving Story by Danielle Greendeer, Anthony Perry, and Alexis Bunten
We invite families of pre-k to 5th grade students and families to take part in the following activities!
Activity 1
Watch the video, “Science Saturday: Keepunumuk”, then do the following activities:
Make Nasamp, taste it, take a picture of you, and your family making it, and write a quote about your experience.
Activity 2
Watch, "The Wampanoag Nation", and write a couple of sentences of what you thought was the most interesting thing you learned about the nation.
Activity 3
Watch, The Story of the Three Sisters, using this story for inspiration, choose at least one traditional food from your Tribe and write a story about the traditional food. Include the name of the tribe your story is from.
Please email to Shelby Maerz at maerz_shelby@salkeiz.k12.or.us a picture of any of the activities you have completed above, including your name, and grade, and complete the satisfaction survey.
We encourage families to interact with this content together and afterward take some time to email your pictures and activities to us. Doing so you agree that the Native Education Program has permission to post those memories along with your student’s name and grade on our website and other social media platforms.
