Find Out About Emergency Closures and Delays

Preparing for inclement weather

How Does SKPS Communicate About Emergency Closures and Delays?

As we begin to see cooler temperatures in our community, it’s important to know how SKPS will communicate in the event of a school closure or delay. In case of bad weather, SKPS officials will work to communicate with families as soon as possible about impacts to school operations. Typically, communication to families begins at 6 a.m.

ParentSquare and StudentSquare

If schools are closed or start times are delayed, all families and staff will get a message sent to the phone number on record with the district along with an email, and a ParentSquare or StudentSquare notification.

Please take a moment to make sure your contact information is up to date using ParentVUE by contacting your child’s school

SKPS Social Media

A message will also always be posted on Salem-Keizer Public Schools FacebookX (Twitter) and Instagram as soon as a decision to cancel school, delay school or close the district is made.
