Community Town Hall to Discuss Student Reading

The Salem Reporter will be hosting a community Town Hall. The event will focus on student reading and literacy in our schools.

The featured panelists will include Salem-Keizer Public Schools Superintendent Andrea Castañeda, Sumpter Elementary teacher Jessica DeFrancisco and Oregon director from the Center for Early Literacy and Learning Success Dana Nerenberg.

The panelists will discuss the district’s approach to improving reading outcomes, the classroom work that supports students with diverse learning needs and the long-term importance of strong literacy skills for student success.

The discussion will be moderated by Salem Reporter Editor Les Zaitz.
