Salem-Keizer Public Schools
Bargaining Update from Superintendent Andrea Castañeda
Video in English on YouTube
The last week has been a heartbreaking and tragic one, and we're working through those details together. We're figuring out our next steps together.
Next week, the Salem-Keizer Education Association has asked its members to vote to authorize a strike, which would allow for a strike to legally occur in April. A strike vote does not guarantee that a strike will happen. SKEA would need to provide at least 10 days of notice ahead of a strike. If that happens, we will let our entire Salem-Keizer community know.
I believe we can achieve a fair contract. I believe we all want to avoid a strike. And I believe that the ties that hold us together are stronger than the ones that are pulling us apart.
