2024 Community-Based Summer Opportunities
While many SKPS schools and programs host summer activities to support students with academics and a smooth transition to the new school year, the Salem-Keizer community is also full of opportunities to help students stay engaged over the summer and support student learning, wellness and engagement.
Below are some of the clubs, programs, events and activities available to students in the Salem-Keizer community during summer break. We will update our list as we learn more about the opportunities available in the community.
Please note that Salem-Keizer Public Schools does not endorse or sponsor any of the below programs or activities in this publication. All questions regarding summer programming options should be directed to the program organizers. Some programs may be subject to enrollment or tuition fees.
Boys & Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club has summer opportunities to help students stay active and engage in learning through history, science and imagination during the summer. Learn more about 2024 summer programs on their website.
PWB BuildCamp
Open to all local students entering grades 7 through 10 from August 5-8 at CTEC. Work with a team on a small construction project. Camp hosted by the Professional Women in Building with volunteers from the Home Builders Association of Marion and Polk Counties in partnership with Salem-Keizer Public Schools. Lunch provided. Space is limited. Students will be selected at random to fill available spots. Go to this Google Form to sign up for PWB BuildCamp.
Capital Community Media Summer Video Camp
Capital Community Media is offering a summer video camp for middle school students ages 12 to 15. Camp will be held from August 5 through 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. Registration information is available on the CCM website. Registration closes on June 30.
CAREcorps
CAREcorps is a summer youth leadership program for students in grades 9 to 12 that emphasizes leadership and service through high-impact projects in our local community. The program runs from July 8 through 25, Monday through Thursday. High school students who complete the program can earn a half (.5) community service elective credit in SKPS. Champions
Champions offers summertime engagement through their summer Champ Camp, which provides opportunities for youth to learn using hands-on activities that help to grow their skills, confidence and teamwork. Learn more about summer camp opportunities on Champions' website.
Chemeketa Community College

Chemeketa BOLT Program
Chemeketa is offering FREE college classes (including FREE digital textbooks) this summer term for high school students in Chemeketa's service district. Visit Chemeketa's Summer BOLT page to learn more!

CTE Exploration Week
Are you a student who is 14 to 16 years old and lives in Marion, Polk or Yamhill County? Chemeketa Community College will have a FREE opportunity available to you this summer. NW Cyber Camp
Are you a high school student in Chemeketa's service district interested in cybersecurity? Chemeketa's Center for Cybersecurity will be offering a FREE summer camp to high school-age students July 29 through August 1 on the Salem campus. Summer Parks Program (Day Camps)
The City of Salem hosts outdoor play activities over the summer for children ages 5 to 12. Visit their Day Camps website to learn more about Summer Parks Program activities.

Live Performance Camp
Valor Mentoring is offering a live performance camp for incoming students in grades 7 to 12. The goal of camp is to help improve performance abilities, learn how to engage with sound equipment and discover other performance tips. Northwest School of Music
The Northwest School of Music offers summer camps and opportunities for students interested in improving their music skills. Check out the NSM website for more information about registration and summer camps.

The Y
The Y offers summer day camps to engage youth in programs that foster lifelong skills, build self-confidence and create connections with others. Information about Summer Day Camps is available on The Y's website.
Kroc Center
High school students interested in exploring a career path in the construction trades can sign up for an eight-week summer program for a skill building and credit recovery opportunity. Sign up by June 26, 2024 using the Kroc Center's registration form.
