COVID-19 Dashboard

Salem-Keizer Public Schools has more than 40,000 students across its schools and 5,000 employees in the district with an exceptional COVID-19 Response Team and District Health Authority. The COVID team and health authority investigate potential COVID cases and quickly communicate with anyone directly impacted by a positive case.

Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of students, families and staff.

The entire Salem-Keizer team strives for openness and transparency which is why the district is introducing its newest and latest COVID-19 reporting structure. Designed in the form of an easy-to-read dashboard, the goal of this reporting will be to keep the public informed on how COVID-19 impacts district schools.

The district will update the COVID-19 Confirmed Cases dashboard each weekend. The “Student Attendance Rates” dashboard will be updated daily. Please note that attendance rates can be impacted by more than just COVID-19 cases or close contacts. Other illness and professional or medical appointments also impact the number of student absences at a school.

COVID-19 communication and investigation

When a positive case of COVID-19 is identified within the school setting, we work closely with the local public health authority to ensure that the person diagnosed with COVID-19 follows instructions for isolation and remains away from others until they can safely return to school.

The Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education are recommending that schools concentrate contact tracing and notification resources on exposures that occur during mealtimes (when students are necessarily unmasked) and on exposures during indoor unmasked learning or extracurricular activities (such as band, welding, wrestling).

In all cases of exposures within high-risk environments, individuals will be notified of an exposure through ParentSquare. In unique circumstances, families may receive a call from a Salem-Keizer staff member.

The dashboard is currently under maintenance

Due to the recent change in guidance, we are updating the dashboard to provide more accurate and timely data.

Student Attendance Rates

Data includes absences of any type (illness, professional or medical appointments, other excused absences, etc.), not just absences due to confirmed COVID-19 cases or close contacts.

All absences (full-day or partial-day) are included and considered the same in this data set.
